I use coconut oil as a night moisturizer on my face and a morning and evening moisturizer for my body. Since starting this new DIY body care method, I have found my skin improving, not breaking out and having a healthy glow as well as my arms and legs feeling much smoother and softer, something unheard of in my dry state of Colorado.
Coconut oil is a well-known natural acne treatment and is antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial and gives healing relief of skin irritations. Adding a couple of drops of Melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil can clear your skin, lessen the reddening and create an even tone.
As a skin softener, coconut oil nourishes the body and protects the skin as well as creates a smooth, healthy and moisturizerized surface. Coconut oil naturally helps to clear away dead skin cells and can be combined with salt, sugar or grain to produce a nice body scrub. Keep in mind that a little goes a long way so just start with a small amount of the oils as you apply and let it absorb into the skin. I just take a finger sized amount and that typically covers a good portion of my legs. That small layer is all you need!
